La combinaci\u00f3n de esta lente, de aproximadamente 7 micras de grosor, con la tomograf\u00eda de coherencia \u00f3ptica podr\u00eda permitir la obtenci\u00f3n de im\u00e1genes a cualquier profundidad en el tejido ocular y manteniendo adem\u00e1s un enfoque n\u00edtido.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>La tomograf\u00eda de coherencia \u00f3ptica, com\u00fanmente utilizada en oftalmolog\u00eda, emplea luz para proporcionar im\u00e1genes 3D de alta resoluci\u00f3n sin necesidad de agentes de contraste ni marcadores. Si bien esta t\u00e9cnica permite visualizar estructuras a diferentes profundidades, tiene dificultades para captar detalles muy finos en la superficie del tejido.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Gracias a la nueva lente y a su aguja \u00f3ptica, es posible obtener im\u00e1genes claras y de alta resoluci\u00f3n tanto en la superficie del tejido como en su interior simult\u00e1neamente, lo que podr\u00eda ayudar a revelar detalles dif\u00edciles de observar con los sistemas convencionales.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>El logro es obra de un equipo integrado, entre otros, por Junfan Huang y Haowen Liang, de la Universidad Sun Yat-sen en Cant\u00f3n, China.<\/p>\n<div class=\"imagefooterprint\"><\/div>\n<p>Los investigadores dise\u00f1aron y fabricaron una lente ultradelgada que utiliza diminutas microestructuras para enfocar la luz en una aguja \u00f3ptica. Al reemplazar la lente de enfoque convencional con la nueva lente en un sistema de tomograf\u00eda de coherencia \u00f3ptica, se consigue un aumento de la profundidad de imagen de nueve veces sin necesidad de un redise\u00f1o \u00f3ptico complejo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>La nueva lente podr\u00eda ayudar a los oftalm\u00f3logos a ver con mayor profundidad y claridad el interior del ojo, lo que permitir\u00eda una detecci\u00f3n m\u00e1s temprana de enfermedades y un mejor diagn\u00f3stico.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A largo plazo, esta misma tecnolog\u00eda podr\u00eda utilizarse en dispositivos cotidianos como las c\u00e1maras de los tel\u00e9fonos inteligentes, lo que posibilitar\u00eda sistemas de captaci\u00f3n de im\u00e1genes m\u00e1s peque\u00f1os, sencillos y baratos sin sacrificar el rendimiento.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Huang, Liang y sus colegas exponen los detalles t\u00e9cnicos de su innovaci\u00f3n en la revista acad\u00e9mica Optics Letters, bajo el t\u00edtulo \u201cOptical Needle with Narrow Lateral Focal Width and Extended Longitudinal Focal Depth Enabled by Multi-Level Diffractive Lens\u201d.
