Todos dependen de un objeto tan cotidiano que hoy nos parece invisible:\u00a0<b>el term\u00f3metro<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, capturar la temperatura en una escala num\u00e9rica fue uno de los mayores desaf\u00edos cient\u00edficos de la humanidad. Esta es la historia de c\u00f3mo pasamos de \u00absentir\u00bb el calor a dominarlo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>El Preludio: El Termoscopio de Galileo (S. XVI)<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Antes de que existieran los grados, exist\u00eda la noci\u00f3n cualitativa: algo estaba fr\u00edo, tibio o caliente. Pero nuestros sentidos son enga\u00f1osos (basta con meter una mano fr\u00eda en agua templada para sentirla ardiente). El primero en intentar objetivar esto fue el genio italiano\u00a0<b>Galileo Galilei<\/b>\u00a0en 1592, cuando dise\u00f1\u00f3 el\u00a0<b>termoscopio<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00bfC\u00f3mo funcionaba?<\/b>\u00a0Era un tubo de vidrio invertido con una esfera en la parte superior, cuyo extremo abierto se sumerg\u00eda en un vaso de agua. Al calentar la esfera con las manos, el aire de su interior se expand\u00eda y empujaba el agua hacia abajo.
